Educators against Bullying

Educators Against Bullying

Alongside with parents, teachers are one of the main resources students have to help prevent and stop bullying. Here are a couple ways how you as an educator, can be your student’s ally.

Be observant

Keep an eye for any suspicious behavior. Such behavior might include pushing, name calling, teasing. Putting a stop on such behaviors at an early stage can prevent for things to develop into other stages of bullying.

Form safety groups

Create safety groups involving other students and even parents to surround any students who might be victims of bullying. Having a surrounding circle can help victims feel safe, and be open to getting help.

Set a positive environment

Know your school policies and do your best to implement them throughout your classroom. Create an open environment where students can feel comfortable expressing themselves, meanwhile keeping respect for each other.

Conduct classroom activities

Have students participate in activities that explain what bullying is, and ways it could be prevented. Having students discuss real life examples such as how bullying is displayed on television or movies, can help students be open about the subject.
