This week on Instagram Live we had the opportunity to talk with Tanner Massey. He is a 16-year-old singer and songwriter from Oklahoma. We discussed his music journey and this is what had to say.
Tell us a little about yourself.
Tanner is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has been singing for over five years now. His goal is to make into the music industry and reach people everywhere. He originally didn’t think he could sing but his parents were the ones that actually pushed him to sing and it has obviously paid off.
What instruments do you play?
When it comes to playing instruments, Tanner plays the piano and guitar. Although he never got too invested in learning to play the piano and was something he learned at a much younger age. He did, however, started learning to play the electric guitar to help him get some rock influence into his music. He is learning to play the guitar by watching videos online and from practicing on his own.
Have you ever taken voice lessons?
For most of his life, he hasn’t had any voice lessons up until recently. The way Tanner has practiced his singing has been by practicing on his own and singing at venues. He did start taking lessons recently because needs to learn the foundation of his voice especially as he gets older in age.
What artists or bands inspire you?
Tanner’s main inspiration is Fall Out Boy because he would love to have that same tone and style in music. In addition, Imagine Dragons, Panic at the Disco, and other bands have been what inspires him to continue writing as he hopes to match the same sound as them.
