Raymond A. Thomas, Award Winning Artist and Film Maker
direct the 2018 Art Gallery Tour.
Raymond A. Thomas is an award-winning artist, international award-winning filmmaker, and noted creative director. This cross-disciplinary artist won Best of Show and 1st prize at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry’s 2013 Black Creativity Juried Art Exhibition. Thomas is also the recipient of a 2014 IPA grant from the City of Chicago’s department of cultural affairs. He is a graduate of the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which lead Thomas to be hired by Johnson Publishing Company Inc., publishers of Ebony and Jet Magazines, where he served as art director and creative manager for over 23-years. Thomas’ first original film “12 MINUTES” was an official selection to over 20 film festivals worldwide. Thomas’ vibrant acrylic and mix media works can be seen in galleries, and art exhibitions for corporate, and personal collections nationwide. His art pieces have been acquired by; The Paul R. Jones Collection, The Carol H. Williams Agency, Linda Johnson Rice, and acting legend Sydney Poitier. Thomas has served on the boards of many noted art institutions and has sat on numerous fine art, film and design panels. Thomas currently serves as artistic/creative director for The South Side Community Art Center in Bronzeville. He is also a resident artist at the new Bronzeville Artist Lofts.
