This week’s Women’s History Month feature goes to this young star, Marsai Martin!
Calia Marsai Martin, born August 14, 2004, is a 15-year-old actress, entrepreneur, and producer from Plano, Texas. Martin’s career began at an early age. At age 5, she starred in commercials, By age 10, Martin received the role of Diane Johnson on the ABC television’s show ‘Black-ish. Through the success of this role, Martin was able to capitalize on her fame, expanding her career.
At the age of 13, she became the executive producer and starred in Universal Pictures film ‘Little,’ with Issa Rae and Regina Hall, she became the youngest person in Hollywood to ever produce a film. The film’s success went on to gross about $50 million in the box office, using a $20 million budget. Not bad for her first film. Marsai is the owner of ‘Genius Productions and is the youngest person to get a first-look deal at Universal, and the youngest person to get a deal at any studio. As of current, Martin will continue her role in the show ‘Black-ish,’ and she is expecting to star in Universal Pictures, ‘Amari and the Night Brothers.’
A word that comes to mind when we think of Marsai is Inspiration. At such a young age she is inspiring girls all over the world, with the message that you’re never to young to fight for your dreams. Her advice to young girls is to never be afraid to speak up and to get out there and take that first step in the direction of achieving your dreams!
