WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Adolescence is often the most difficult stage of life for numerous individuals. Teens spend a lot of time trying to fit in, make friends, and ultimately gain life skills to push them forward. However, the unfortunate reality is that many teens struggle to navigate these critical years. Teens often compare themselves to their peers, feel left out, and set unattainable standards for themselves. Despite problems teens may face during these times, there are resources waiting to assist them. Consequently, it is imperative for parents to recognize that there are outlets for their teens to share their feelings and be a part of a community.
One of the most invaluable assets in teen’s lives are resources. Parents and teachers are perhaps the most important resources in teen’s lives, but it’s important that both recognize there are a plethora of resources to guide teens along as they grow and face unique life experiences. Moreover, as the school year rolls around again, teens are placed in fast-paced environments, and often do not know how to take a step back to reflect and express how they’re feeling.
Resources are a place where teens can get answers for just about anything, whether it be for wellness, school, or simply community. Not only do they provide information, but they ultimately foster relationships, which is critical to youth development.
As teachers and parents, you look for ways to help your teens, but sometimes don’t know where to look. Expressions wants to be a creative outlet for teens to both express themselves and gain additional resources along the way.
